HEIDENHAIN PRODUCES SEALED AND EXPOSED LINEAR ENCODERS IN BOTH FULL-SIZE AND SLIMELINE SCALE HOUSINGS, FOR MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS

Heidenhain manufactures several types of length measurement devices to fit your needs including:

  • Sealed linear encoders-protects against dust, chips and cutting fluid splashes and are available in full-size and slimline scale housing. The full-size scale housing is engineered for high vibration loading in sizes up to 30M (72M upon request). The slimline scale housing is built for limited installation space with up to 1240 MM measuring length. It accommodates 2040 mm with mounting spar or tensioning elements.
  • Exposed linear encoders-operate with no mechanical contact between the scanning head and the scale or scale tape. Application areas include:

Heidenhain

  1. measuring machines
  2. comparators
  3. production and measuring equipment
  4. other precision devices in linear metrology
  5. accuracy grades of +/-0.5um and better
  6. small dimensions and low weight
  7. measuring lengths up to 30m with high traversing speeds
  • Incremental Linear Encoders The current position is determined by starting at a datum and counting measuring steps, or by subdividing and counting signal periods. Heidenhain incremental encoders feature reference marks, which must be scanned after switch-on to re-establish the reference point. It’s done simply and quickly with distance-coded reference marks.
  • Absolute linear Encoders require no previous traverse to provide the current position value. The encoder transmits the absolute value through the EnDat Interface or another serial interface.
